When everything he had was mediated through the wisdom of his father, he didn't have to worry about maintenance. He was like the birds who don't plant and reap their food, or the lilies who don't toil and weave their clothing. His father just provided it.

Apologies aren't about getting forgiveness and moving on. They're about expressing remorse and accepting accountability. Good apologies are just the first step on the road to reconciliation.

If I were to run away from home, I'd have to use gas money my parents put in my wallet for me. It's all terribly ironic, but from the limited view of a child, it somehow makes sense. How much more ironic when we try to run away from God?

small love = big love

We might be tempted to believe that he "could have done so much better." He could have achieved any version of human greatness. But none of those things would have made him great. The only entry into the world worthy of the almighty creator of the universe was through a teenager's birth canal.

where to begin?

Do you ever have a word that's on the tip of your tongue, but you can't remember it? I had a word like that. I couldn't remember the word "quotidian" for about 5 years.

life, death, fear, and faith?

For a long time after that day, I just tried not to think about Heaven. It was little more than a small dread in the back of my mind. I couldn't help but think of my entrance into Heaven as the last day I got to do anything fun. (In fact, there are several country songs that corroborate my fear).
