I mentioned there that I don't want to present an academic word study, and I stand by that statement. I will however share one of the coolest things I've learned recently about the word "spirit" in the Bible.

In my experience, human beings are hardwired to fear; but that was incompatible with my understanding of Jesus' instructions not to fear. This led me to read from Luke 12, a passage where Jesus tells us both to fear and to not fear in the same discourse.
